HSA
Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) is a standardized platform design that unlocks the performance and power efficiency of the parallel computing engines found in most modern electronic devices. It allows developers to easily and efficiently apply the hardware resources — including CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, fabrics and fixed function accelerators — in today’s complex systems-on-chip (SoCs).
The HSA Foundation, a not-for-profit consortium that brings together SoC IP vendors, OEMs, academia, SoC vendors, operating system vendors (OSVs) and independent software vendors (ISVs), is driving forward HSA standards to make it easy to program for parallel computing.
GPT’s Unity processor IP cores are designed to support HSA. A key attribute of the Unity 1.0 ISA is its ability to efficiently map Heterogeneous System Architecture Intermediate Language (HSAIL) instructions. HSAIL is an intermediate language defined by the HSA Foundation which abstracts the complexities of compute devices in heterogeneous systems.
With the company-wide adoption of HSA standards, we are now expanding our licensing worldwide. All GPT processors include HSA support and we are excited to offer world-class HSA-enabled processors to our customers.
